Andalucia March 2015
For the fifth time I spent a holiday in Andalucia. For the tirth time I stayed at Casitas de la Sierra in Montejaque. A little village between the mountains, perfectly situated for cycling and trailrunning, without having to take the car. Little shops and bakery within walking distance and swimming is possible in the indoorpool of Ronda, just 30 minutes away or in the Embalsa de la Zahara.
Every year there is at least one morning where the clouds are passing through the valley between Ronda and Benaojan, delivering majestics views from the village viewpoint.

16 days of sporting resumed in a 7 minute movie. For those who want to see a bit more I added the separate movies from every day at the end of this report.
This year the weather wasn't optimal for sporting but also that delivers nice opportunities. One night I woke up and saw the clear sky... as rain was predicted before noon... I drove to the startpoint of the El Torreon trail and started the climb still being dark in the hope to see a sunrise before the clouds came rolling over... and I was lucky...
The morning I drove to the Gargante Verde, sun was back for a short while, but because of all the rain in the previous days that delivered some nice pictures too... this one is looking towards the embalsa de Montejaque ... the embalsa that kept leaking and never filled up
Gargante Verde is a really magnificient place... if you're in the neighbourhood , get a permit over in El Bosque and do the hike.
But be careful, because the day before my visit a group of 15 got stuck and had to spent the night in the cave down there before they got out with the help of the "bomberos". Another place I discovered this time was the Tajo del Albanico, a bit south of Ronda. An ancient Roman road is running through this special shaped valley. |
Climbing the local mountain behind Montejaque gives a total other perspective to Montejaque, Ronda and the Llanos de libar.
At the end of my holiday I also visited the recently renovated Caminito del Rey... apparently it was light enough for my eyes but not yet for my camera as I visited it very early, or was it still night when I arrived?
